# Study 000E Methods

## Study Role

This study is a follow-on flagship study after `000D`.

`000D` answered the adaptation-model question.
`000E` addresses one of the most important child questions created by that answer.

## Question

Does session-level burden rise when the system is pushed outside its narrowed successful running context?

## Definitions

- narrowed successful context:
the later stabilized treadmill-dominant running context described in `000B`, `000C`, and `000D`
- outside-context probes:
the `5` later specialized outdoor runs isolated in `Microstudy B`

## Source Tables

The package bundles all source tables it uses in `source_tables/`.

## Burden Tests

Three burden checks were performed:

1. later outside-context mean HR residual versus early and late window means
2. later outside-context actual HR versus local matched treadmill HR within `+/- 0.10 m/s`
3. descriptive next-day recovery inspection

## Statistical Style

Because the key probe set contains `5` runs, the package uses:

- direction consistency
- one-sided sign tests
- bootstrap confidence intervals for mean effects

The study remains descriptive and within-dataset rather than experimental.
