What the app does

Eighteen studies, in the order the questions arrived

Four phases. Each one exists because the phase before it produced something that needed explaining. If you are starting cold, read 000A and 000B and ignore the rest until they are useful to you.

Open a phase to see its studies. The sequence matters more than any individual entry (each phase answers what the previous one raised).

Foundation. What is actually happening Three studies establishing the pattern before trying to explain it. Start here3 studies

The first phase deliberately avoided explanation. The aim was to record what an adapted adult body was doing over a long period, densely enough that the patterns were measured, not remembered.

000A and 000B are the two entry points for the whole program. Everything after them assumes both, and will read as jargon without them.

Mechanism. What the pattern meant Where the cost is carried, and why high function and real burden coexist. Phase 23 studies

The foundation phase produced an awkward result: performance held up while cost did not fall. This phase asked where that cost was going, and why it stayed invisible from outside.

000E is the one most adults recognize immediately: doing well inside a familiar routine, and paying disproportionately the moment the routine changes.

Theory. How the pattern is held together Seven studies on what maintains the envelope, and what predicts it moving. Phase 37 studies

The longest phase, and the most speculative. Having established that an operating envelope exists, these ask what keeps it stable, what narrows it, and whether its edges can be seen coming.

There is no 000L. It was started and abandoned and not finished, and the letter was not reused. Leaving the gap visible seemed more honest than renumbering to make the sequence look tidier than it was.

Microstudies and secondary studies Short, narrow tests of specific questions raised along the way. Phase 45 studies

Smaller in scale and narrower in scope. Each exists because one specific question came up mid-program and could be tested quickly instead of folded into a longer study.

Read these the right way

Every study here has one participant. That is the design, and it is also the ceiling: single-subject work can describe a system densely and generate questions, and it cannot show that anything generalizes to you.

So nothing in this index is a finding about clubfoot, adults, or anyone’s outcome. It is a record of one adapted body measured carefully over years, published with its limits attached. The research page works through the fair objections to that in more detail.

Read them as documented questions. Nothing here is a result about you.

The program

What is an operating envelope?
The range of activity within which an adapted body performs well without accumulating cost. Much of the later work is about finding where that boundary sits and what happens on either side of it.
Why is there no 000L?
It was started and abandoned, not completed, and the letter was not reused. Leaving the gap visible is more honest than renumbering to make the sequence look tidier than it was.
Where should I start with these studies?
Study 000A, which establishes what was actually happening over time, then 000B on what that adaptation costs internally. The later studies assume both and will read as jargon without them.
Why are they numbered, not named?
Because the sequence carries the meaning. Each study exists to answer a question raised by the one before it, and a numbered series makes that dependency visible in a way descriptive titles would hide.
Why is there no study 000L?
It was started and abandoned and not completed, and the letter was not reused. Leaving the gap visible is more honest than renumbering to make the sequence look tidier than it was.
What is the difference between a study and a microstudy?
Scale and ambition. The numbered studies run over long periods and address the core program; microstudies are short, narrow tests of one specific question that came up along the way.
Can these findings be applied to me?
No. Every one of them is a single subject, and single-subject work cannot show that anything generalizes. Read them as documented questions instead of as results, and take anything interesting to a clinician.
